Let’s Bring Back Students to Sports Again: A Campaign That Inspires All
In a world where students are increasingly burdened with academic pressures, Mizanul Haque Prince has emerged as a champion for change. His campaign, “Let’s Bring Back Students to Sports Again,” is more than a call to action; it is a movement that seeks to restore balance in the lives of young people. Prince understands that sports are not just games but a powerful medium for fostering mental well-being, physical health, teamwork, and life skills.
This campaign is a heartfelt plea to parents, educators, and community leaders to recognize the trans-formative power of sports. Prince’s tireless efforts aim to remind everyone that true education goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. Sports instill discipline, resilience, and a sense of community, qualities that are vital for shaping well-rounded individuals.
Even in the face of skepticism and challenges, Prince’s unwavering commitment to this cause has inspired countless individuals. His message is simple yet profound: “When we bring students back to sports, we bring them closer to a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life.” Whether you are a supporter or a skeptic, the undeniable impact of this campaign on the youth of Bangladesh deserves recognition and support. Together, we can create a future where every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and shine—both on and off the field.
The Struggle Behind the Vision
The journey of Lalbagh Sports Carnival is deeply rooted in the relentless efforts of Mizanul Haque Prince, who faced numerous challenges while advocating the importance of sports in the holistic development of students. His commitment to nurturing young minds beyond academic learning led him to provide free training sessions across the country, focusing on time management and goal setting. Through these sessions, he realized that students were excessively engaged in academic pursuits, leaving no room for sports in their daily lives.
To address this issue, Prince formed YouYouth, a training organization dedicated to equipping students with essential life skills and encouraging them to embrace sports as a means of personal growth.
The Birth of a Movement
Determined to make a change, Mizanul Haque Prince organized the Youth Olympic in 2018, a groundbreaking event that invited over 8,500 students across 15 different sports disciplines. However, only 2,000 students participated, reflecting the pressing need to reintroduce sports into students’ lives. Despite the challenges, the event was a significant success, motivating Prince to launch the “Let’s Bring Back Students to Sports Again” campaign.
Facing Challenges with Determination
The campaign soon gained momentum, attracting attention from various stakeholders. However, when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) noticed the use of the term “Olympic” in the event name, they issued a legal notice demanding its removal. Prince complied and informed the IOC of his compliance. Recognizing the potential of the campaign, the IOC expressed interest in supporting it but required a proposal from the Bangladesh Olympic Committee. Unfortunately, the local authority declined to assist.
Undeterred by setbacks, Mizanul Haque Prince continued his mission through social media and global networking. His unwavering dedication connected him with like-minded individuals across the world, including Mitch Lyons from the USA, who shared a similar passion for transforming lives through sports. Together, they embarked on a journey to expand the reach and impact of the Lalbagh Sports Carnival.
A Triumph of Passion and Persistence
The inaugural season of Lalbagh Sports Carnival in Saidpur was a resounding success, bringing together over 200 Leos and featuring 15 different sports. With this triumph, the stage was set for an even larger and more influential event in Dhaka in 2025. The carnival aims to unite students, sports enthusiasts, and local leaders to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and a renewed sense of community.
The Road Ahead
Today, the Lalbagh Sports Carnival is more than just an event; it is a movement to revive the sports culture in Bangladesh. With the combined efforts of Mizanul Haque Prince, Mitch Lyons, and countless supporters worldwide, the campaign continues to grow, inspiring students to embrace sports as an essential part of their development.
